It's the Holidays can you believe it?! We sure can't. With the holidays comes a never ending search for the perfect bottle of wine to pair with your holiday meal. This may be my favorite part of my job. I love recommending bottles for people to bring home to share with their family and friends. It means a lot to us that our customers trust us to make these recommendations. So that brings me to my wine of the month. Pinot Noir can be a great addition to your holiday meal depending on what is on your menu. I was looking for a Burgundy style french pinot that didn't come with a crazy price tag. I was really happy with what one of my sales reps came up with. The 2010 Les Jamelles Pinot Noir is my december wine of the month. When I first sipped this lush pinot I was shocked at how full bodied it was for a Pinot Noir. It was very fruit forward but that was balanced nicely with earthy notes. Its finish was nice and long for a wine under 15 bucks. I was so blown away by the price and quality of this wine I had to make it my wine of the month. When it was delivered I was as excited as a kid on Christmas, I took a bottle home with me for dinner. But when I sipped it I was unimpressed. It was all fruit no body, no earthy notes, nothing but bright jammy fruit! How could this be?! I loved it just yesterday. Then I remembered my sales rep poured my taste from an already opened bottle. I tried the Les jamelles Pinot Noir again the next day and it was once again dazzling. This wine NEEDS time to open up and breath. If you have a Decanter go ahead and set Les Jamelles in there for 2-3 hours. If you do this you will have a great french style Pinot at an amazing price. Stop in give it a try and you will not be disappointed I promise.
Cheers!
